OUR PLEDGE

Riding Without Stabilisers – The Yorkshire Bike Shack Pledge

At Yorkshire Bike Shack, we use our own proven approach to help children move from stabilisers — or from non-riding — to confident, independent cycling. By combining simple balance-first techniques, positive encouragement, and small group sessions, around 90% of children who attend are riding independently by the end of a single 2-hour session.
We believe that when children are supported in a calm, friendly environment, and taught at their own pace, they gain not just the skills to ride a bike — but the confidence to enjoy it. Our sessions are welcoming, pressure-free and designed to help children of all abilities feel safe, capable and proud of their progress.

Free Follow-Up Support

Every child learns differently. If a child takes part fully in their first session but doesn’t quite reach independent riding, we’ll offer a free 1-hour follow-up session, available within two months of the original class.
Your instructor will explain how to arrange this follow-up and help schedule a suitable date, subject to availability. Follow-up sessions must be booked within the two-month window; after this, a new booking will be required.

Working Together for the Best Results

To give your child the best chance of success, we ask that parents allow our instructors to lead the session without parental coaching or intervention. Our instructors are experienced in building confidence and supporting children through challenges in a positive, encouraging way.
We expect children to take part willingly and engage with the session. While we’ll always do our best to motivate and support every rider, progress depends on each child’s participation and readiness to learn.
